Review of the play "DIGDARSHAK"

On 8 August my English Department organized a screening play 'Digdarshak'. It was presented a film screening committee.
A Film screening commitee's leader Alpa Ponda presented the film 'Digdarshak'. The writer of the play Priyan Jani and the director Rushit Jani. Its a fantastic play.

This story is very senseful and heart touching. In this story conflict between theatre and cinema. I like this play because it's is an artistic drama.

There is 3 characters are; director, vijay and actor. Director is the character in father and vijay is the character in son. In this play only two characters play various role in one costume. We have seen that Father and Son different choices to work. Father has interested in theatre and Son has interested in actors. In this play we have seen that, when the father was come to the theatre at that time he was feeling happy. Father was very busy in the theatre so he was not give more time his son.

The lighting of the play , characters , the flashback technique and element of fade in and fade out used in to such a way.

Really , this play has very interesting and also inspired us.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ALPA PONDA.

After sailing around for a while ,he makes a bit of money in trade ,but then is captured and made into a slave off the coast of Africa. Here he befriends a young man named Xury, with whom he escapes from captivity.
Picked up by a Portuguese sailing captain,Crouse makes it to Brazil where he buys a sugar plantation. He does fairly well financially, but soon becomes involved in a venture to procure slaves from Africa. On the voyage there he gets shipwrecked and is left as the only survivor on a deserted Island.

2.Life on the Island

This portion of the novel is dedicated to Crusoe's time alone on the Island. He builds three main structure; his initial shelter, his country home on the opposite side of the Island, and his guns and ammo fort in the woods. He spends his time planting corn, barely, and rice . He learns to make bread. He builds furniture, waves baskets and makes pots. Crouse also raises goats and tends to his little family of cats, dogs and a parrot. Most importantly, though, Crouse becomes stronger in his religious faith, eventually submitting to the authority of God. He devote himself to much religious reflection and prayer.

3.Escape from the Island

In the final section of the book, Crouse sees a footprint on the shore one day and learns that he's actually not alone on the Island. There are also cannibals. Crouse struggle with the question of whether or not he should take revenge on them. Eventually he meets with Friday, a native man whom he is able to rescue from the cannibals. Crouse teaches Friday English and covert Christianity. The two become like father son. Friday and Crouse also rescue Spaniard and Friday's father from a different group of cannibals.
Eventually, an English longboat full of sailors lands on Island. Crusoe learns that the men have mutinied against their captain. After Crouse helps restore order to the ship, the men and captain pledge allegiance to Crouse and agree to take him home. Crouse then returns to Europe with Friday, where he comes into a great deal of money from his sugar plantations. The novel ends with promise of more adventures for him in the squel.

# Colonialism

"Colonialism  is relation between  an indegious majority and minority of foreign invaders. The fundamental decisions  people are made the implemental by colonial  ruler in pursuit of interests that  are often defined in a distant metropolis.  Rejecting cultural compromises with colonised population. The colonisers are convinced of their own superiority and their ordained mandate to rule."

In Defoe's Robinson Crusoe , Colonialism is clearly apparent, to put the proper context,  it should  be noted that the story was published in 1719, and England was enjoying the prosperity of the American Colonies. England had adapted the stance that "God is on the side of the English" during Queen Elizabeth I's reign, this attitude had not diminished. Surely it only increased which also included "island in the west indies."

Today we are colonised by western culture like we are live in India. Our national language was hindi. But we are not like studying hindi. In that time we are studying in English because English language becomes global  language.  Now days we are celebrate in birthday , Marriage anniversary , ring ceremony etc. In this celebrating inherited in western culture. Our mind is so much affected by english language and western culture.

Therefore we can say that Colonialism still working in our life.

# Difference between movie and Novel :

1. The movie describing only one voyage but originally in novel there are two or three voyages.

2. In originally novel Friday total submitted himself to Crouse but in movie he does not.

3. In the novel Robinson takes Friday as a servant while In the movie Robinson takes Friday as a slave.

4. In the book Friday afraid of gun while In movie Friday does not much care about that gun.

# Anti-Colonialism Elements:

The most important change in the film that shows Anti-Colonial nature. Crouse wants to become Friday's Friend. In the film we can see that the relationship between Crouse and Friday. Friday's rebelling nature also shows Anti-Colonialism. Friday never follow Crouse's culture, he did not wear clothes , he did not worship Crouse's God. All over Friday never easily convinced.

These points shows that there is Anti-Colonialism Elements in Robinson Crusoe.

               THANK YOU
